Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a rare lung ailment, was detected in Tom Dees at the start of January, leading to his hospitalization. Despite being in the hospital, he was unable to win the battle and died on February 9th at the age of 57.
Many people are shocked to learn of Tom Dees’ passing and have since expressed their condolences on social media. Tom had a heartwarming and genuine enthusiasm for the Mid-South, both personally and professionally. All those who knew him will miss him.

I knew Tom was fighting some severe uphill battles. I had just chatted with him two days ago to let him know that he was on my mind. Tom and I did a news segment together back a few months ago in November. During the chat, Tom said that he knew his time was short and had only hoped to see his kids finish up their school year. He was fighting hard to make it the last few months til May. He wanted to see their accomplishments….
Tom was a meaningful part of Memphis, DeSoto County, FOX13 Memphis, and his loving family. Tom left positive impacts on many lives all around. Tj Cates I am with a heavy heart…
